Comparative
literature is the study of literature across cultural and national frontiers,
time periods, languages and genres, even across the boundaries between
literature and the other arts. In the subject of Comparative
Literature I will compare the story of Snow White with the movie Sleeping
Beauty.
There are some differences and
similarities in the Snow White story with the film Sleeping Beauty. Snow White is a German fairy tale known across
much of Europe and is today one of the most famous fairy tales worldwide. The
Brothers Grimm published it in 1812 in the first edition of their collection
Grimm's Fairy Tales. Snow White is a kind and gentle princess, with lips red as
a rose and skin white as snow. After she's forced to leave her castle, she
befriends the lovable Seven Dwarfs and finds her one true love. Sleeping Beauty
is a classic fairy tale by the Brothers Grimm involving a beautiful princess, a
sleeping enchantment, and a handsome prince.
Snow White tells about the story a daughter who ran away from her
stepmother and stayed at the home of the dwarves. Then the stepmother using a
variety of ways to kill the princess. Snow White is a very beautiful daughter.
This makes the stepmother of Snow White wants to get rid of Snow White so that
no rival beauty. By providing a poisoned apple one who is able to make Snow
White lying. Until the arrival of the Pangerang who then kissed the princess to
awake again. Sleeping Beauty tells about
the story a daughter of a king and queen who had long craved a child. At birth,
the King and Queen invited the fairy princess blessed so small, but there is
one fairy uninvited, that the wicked fairy. It condemns the wicked fairy
princess that at the age of 17 years would needlestick which would put him to
sleep forever. But will wake up again when kissed by a man who is her true
love.
There are similarities and differences in both these films, there are some
similarities in the parts of the story. Sleeping Beauty and Snow White is a
story that tells of malice towards the main character but is told in a
different setting. In the film Sleeping Beauty Aurora characters harmed by the
evil witch, she is given using a needle trap that has been poisoned by the time
if the needle hurt his hand sew Aurora will die. Sleeping beauty in a setting
described in the palace because Aurora is a daughter of a king who was famous
for his kindness but evil witch always envied and hated his self Aurora family.
While the Snow White story happened in the woods, if Sleeping Beauty harmed by
an evil fairy using a needle, Snow White harmed by her step-mother posing as
fruit sellers him
given the
already poisonous apple to kill her self. In addition there is a difference
equation that is specific to the two stories presented to children because her
story interesting, the children will be very happy to hear about the fictional
stories that tell about castles, fairies, beautiful woman kind, dwarfs and the
prince handsome that always come just in time to help. In both these stories of
death Sleeping Beauty and Snow White into the conflict but with a happy ending
because the second story, there was a prince who became their helper.
The conclusion of this story is that goodness will destroy evil intentions.
Proven when Snow White and Sleeping beauty dies, the poison in them instantly
disappear with the kiss of a prince who came to the rescue with a sincere love.
